TWO underage drivers involved in a high-speed chase have been arrested after ploughing a car stolen from Knutsford into the front of a half million pound cottage in Warrington.

Both boys, who are not yet old enough to drive, are accused of stealing a black BMW 520 from a property in Toft Road, Knutsford, which was reported missing on Tuesday morning.

The teens, aged 15 and 16, from Newton-Le-Willows, are currently being questioned by officers while enquiries are ongoing.

It is understood the two boys were in involved in a high-speed chase with officers from Greater Manchester Police.

A spokesman for GMP said: "We were called at 10.36am on Tuesday to Warrington Road, Wigan, to a report of a car, a BMW 520, driving at high speed. "A police pursuit ensued and the car then drove over the border into Cheshire police’s jurisdiction." The chase came to a dramatic end when the stolen vehicle ploughed into the front of a residential property on Broseley Lane, Culcheth.

Broseley Cottage, which is positioned next to Leigh Golf Course, was understood to be empty at the time of the crash.

The three bedroom property, which has been on the market since October for £475,000 by estate agents Edwards Grounds in Culcheth, has since been boarded up with the vehicle taken away for forensics.
