SANTA can see more clearly who is on his naughty and nice list this year thanks to help of some young Knutsford artists.

Wendy Diddams Opticians, on Minshull Street, runs a successful optical-themed children’s competition every Christmas.

This year children were asked to design a pair of spectacles for Santa and the practice received around 200 creative entries.

The winners were chosen by artist Lizzie Fisher and Knutsford Town Mayor Clr Neil Forbes presented the prizes to the lucky chosen on Saturday.

During the prize-giving on Saturday, Clr Forbes said: “All the entries look fantastic, I’m glad I wasn’t the judge – it would have taken me forever to choose.

“Santa needs his glasses to make sure he reads the present labels properly and, of course, to look at his map to find the right chimney – we wouldn’t want him to get mixed up.”

The winners of each age group received a Kindle Fire 6 and selection boxes were presented to all the runners up.

Optometrist Wendy said: “As local independent community opticians we want to make the idea of going for an eye test seem less scary and wearing glasses seem more fun and cool.

“Many eye problems can be corrected if they are found at an early age, helping children to grow up with two healthy eyes.”
