PCSO Lindsey Williams has issued a Christmas message on behalf of Knutsford Police.

PSCO Williams said: “Knutsford Police are taking part in two operations for this Christmas.

“We have operation Caldas which is high viz patrol on foot in the town centre.

“You will see a bigger presence on your streets by PCSOs, police officers and special constables helping to keep your town safe.

“We ask that everybody keeps bags and purses zipped up so criminals cannot target you.

Last year we had an increase of gangs targeting members of the public using iPhones.

“These criminals waited for phones to be placed down on tables in cafes, hairdressers and bars and used a distraction method, mostly asking for directions or some kind of other advice whilst covering your mobile phone with something, and then make off with the phone.

“We also have Operation Blue Christmas. This is a night time operation for patrols and they will be looking at drink driving offences.

“People will soon be partying and we are asking that you make arrangements for your journey home in advance of your evening.

“The police get called to incidents where people walk home alone leaving themselves vulnerable to crime.

“We hope you have a wonderful Christmas. All we ask is that you stay safe and be responsible.”
