HOLMES Chapel MP Fiona Bruce has lent her support to a new national shopping site which could help raise millions of pounds for hospices and other charities this Christmas.

Mrs Bruce, along with representatives from St Luke’s Hospice, launched the new Care2Save shopping website at an event in Westminster last week.

Care2Save is unique in the UK as it is the only charity owned and run shopping site which gives 100 per cent of the money it makes through commission directly to the charity sector – without costing the customer a penny.

A total of 80 per cent of the commission generated through each purchase goes to a registered charity of the shopper’s choice and the remaining 20 per cent goes to the Care2Save Charitable Trust which supports hospice and palliative care in the UK and globally.

Products from over 2000 stores are available through the site.

“Online spending over Christmas is predicted to reach an all-time high of £13billion – if just 5 per cent of purchases are made through Care2Save.co.uk, £19.5million could be raised for good causes this festive season,” said Mrs Bruce.

“As vice president of St Luke’s Hospice, I am very pleased to support this initiative and that Care2Save is the brainchild of the fundraising team at St Luke’s Hospice. There cannot be an easier way to raise funds for local hospices –and in fact for all local charities this Christmas.”

St Luke’s Hospice welcomed the launch of the site.

Andrea Fragata-Ladeira, of St Luke’s Hospice and CEO of Care2Save, said: “Hospice care will touch all of our lives at one point or another, whether for ourselves or those close to us. Together through Care2Save we have the opportunity to transform the hospice sector.”
