A KNUTSFORD charity ball has raised a record-breaking £21,000 for Brainwave, who help children with disabilities to fulfil their potential.

The jazz-themed fundraiser sponsored by ClearSky Business took place at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa and included a prize raffle and live music from Dr Jazz and the Cheshire Cats.

An array of holidays and leisure activities also went to the highest bidder in an auction which included a day in the kitchen with celebrity chef, Aiden Byrne.

Joanne Freeman, Brainwave’s regional community fundraising manager, said: “Raising our biggest total was the perfect way to celebrate the fifth anniversary of Brainwave in the North West.

“The only problem we now have is trying to top it next year!”

Therapists at Brainwave work with families to devise programmes for young people that focus on improving mobility and communication skills.

Elaine Woodcock, head of practice solutions at ClearSky Business, said: “We’re delighted that the event raised so much money for a good cause.

“It’s extremely rewarding to know that the proceeds from the night will go towards improving children’s lives.”
