A KNUTSFORD food store is set to reopen its doors after being given a £380,000 revamp.

The Co-operative Food Store, on Parkgate Lane, closed earlier this month for refurbishment work and the new-look store will reopen to the public on Thursday November 20.

As well as getting a makeover, the store will stock a wider range of products and will benefit from a new in-store bakery.

Paul Ruscoe, store manager, said: “I’m excited about welcoming shoppers into the new store. The transformation will be amazing and I’m sure our customers will enjoy shopping in the new environment, which will provide them with a convenient location to pick up everything they need to create inspirational and tasty meals.

“The Co-operative is a community retailer and we are committed to playing an active role in local life, embracing the area’s community spirit. The store will be a hub for the community and customers will be able to find out what is going on locally and learn about how the Co-operative can benefit local groups.”

The Co-operative told the Guardian that it had also launched its commitment to “Fair and Square Pricing”, lowering prices on hundreds of everyday essentials such as bread, milk and bacon in response to other retailers in the town.

The store also boasts a new ‘community pioneer’, Sara Humphreys.

Sara has been appointed as part of a new programme which will see her foster a strong involvement in community activity in Knutsford, from volunteering opportunities to helping develop solutions to meet local needs.

The revamp for the store comes two years after the Co-op store on Princess Street in Knutsford town centre underwent a similar transformation. In the summer a new Spar convenience store opened on the site of the BP garage on Mobberley Road.
