THREE prestigious musical ensembles will be raising the roof at Tatton in the run-up to Christmas next month.

Tatton’s popular festive concert series will make a return to the Tenants’ Hall from December 11 to 13.

The Northern Chamber Orchestra will kick off the series with an evening of classical Christmas favourites - including music from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite - and carols on Thursday December 11. The orchestra will be joined on the night by Weaverham High School Choir and award-winning Merseyside poet Terry Caffrey.

The following evening, Friday December 12, the historic City of Chester Male Voice Choir will take to the stage.

Roberts Bakery band is billed to perform at the final concert on Saturday December 13. It is the seventh time the Northwich brass band has played at the venue and will be treating guests to a repertoire of classical, traditional and popular music.

Tatton Park events manager Rachel Morris said: “We always look forward to this time of year and the Christmas concerts really bring the festivities to life. Each of the musical groups are so passionate about their performance; the atmosphere is truly wonderful.

“A great night is to be had by all and remembered for years.”

Visitors to each evening concert performance will have the opportunity to stroll through the mansion beforehand. This year, the mansion has been decorated in the theme of the Nutcracker ballet, with scenes depicting the doll’s journey through the Christmas Forest and the Land of Sweets.

All performances will begin at 8pm and pre-concert suppers are available at the Stables restaurant or the Gardener’s Cottage.

Ticket prices range from £12 to £20 for the concerts, visit the website for more information or to book tickets; tattonpark.org.uk.
