THE Goostrey Rose Queen and her dutiful attendants recently organised and ran a bag pack to raise funds for the little-known neurological charity PSPA.

Catherine Flanders, 14, was crowned in June this year and chose to fundraise for PSPA after her grandmother passed away from the condition Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP).

PSP robs people of the ability to walk, talk, feed themselves or communicate effectively and the average life expectancy is seven years from the onset of symptoms.

The bag pack, which took place at Morrisons, in Middlewich, raised £354 for PSPA, the only national charity which helps support those affected by PSP.

“I chose a bag pack because it’s something that everyone can take part in,” said Catherine.

Catherine along with attendants Amy, Jemima and Ellen and friend Leanne worked hard for six long hours and agreed that even though it was tough, it was worthwhile after they counted their donations.

"We were so happy to have made such an impact on people, and that we raised lots of awareness,” said Catherine.

The girls hope to raise even more money for PSPA through their Goostrey Rose Queen’s Just Giving page and hope to organise a music and dance show in the future.
