KNUTSFORD Heritage Centre is asking schools to step back in time for this year’s annual short story competition.

The competition, which is in its third year, involves six schools – Egerton, St Vincents, Bexton, Manor Park, Yorston and Knutsford Academy.

Pupils are asked to write about what would happen if they met any of Knutsford’s historic characters, such as King Canute or Highway Higgins, in the present day.

Some stories have already been collected but all entries must be handed in at the school or the heritage centre by Friday October 24.

Winners will be invited to a special ceremony at the centre on November 4, where they will receive prizes from Waterstones and Mr Simms sweet shop.
