OPTIONS are being explored to attract the capital investment for plans for the possible relocation of a Knutsford primary school.

Cheshire East Council recently commissioned a feasibility study to consider the possible co-location of Egerton Primary and Pre-School on the Knutsford Academy site.

The aim would be to create a ‘two to 18 years All Through Education Campus’, and governors of both schools are considering the results of the study.

A steering group for the project has been established, and Egerton Primary parents will be able to ask questions about the possible co-location at parents’ evenings at the school on Wednesday and Thursday.

There will be a display on the vision for the school, and head teacher Alison Hooper and governors will be available to answer any questions parents may have.

“The proposed campus would allow the development of a modern, state-of-the-art learning campus, which would not only benefit our own pupils and staff, but would also offer enhanced resources and facilities for the use of other local schools and the wider community,” said Mrs Hooper.

“The governors of Egerton Primary School and Knutsford Multi-Academy Trust (Knutsford Academy and the Studio School) are looking at the outcomes of the feasibility study, and options are being explored to attract the capital investment needed to secure the range and quality of facilities we wish to see on the learning campus.

“We believe this is a very exciting opportunity to deliver world-class learning from pre-school through to the threshold of higher education or employment.

“If funding streams are identified the Steering Group is well prepared for the next stages of planning, and is in a strong position to establish the working teams to ensure the vision is realised.

“The Steering Group has discussed a draft education ethos and vision which it is keen to receive feedback on from parents and learners. This information will be displayed at both parents’ evenings.”

The Steering Group has identified key issues including addressing future demand for primary places and combining pre-school, primary, secondary, sixth form and specialist sports provision to provide facilities that will support education across Knutsford.
