MOBBERLEY Scarecrow Festival has plenty to crow about after it proved an outstanding hit for the second year running.

The festival, which was launched Clr Julie Collins last year to ‘bring some cheer to the community’, has been embraced by residents and businesses alike, with a total of 27 scarecrows entered this year.

The event, which ran from September 15 to October 15, saw a variety of stuffed characters, including a squirrel, Bill (without Ben), a ninja turtle and ‘scary poppins’, propped up, hanging down and having a rest in locations across the village.

“The second Mobberley annual scarecrow festival was a resounding success with an unexpected special award - the scarecrows from Dam Head Farm shop being selected as the National Winner of the McCains competition,” said Clr Collins.

“The standard of craftsmanship of the scarecrows was fantastic. It is hoped that the festival will encourage visitors to come to Mobberley and visit the many wonderful pubs and restaurants, and also raise money for local charity 'The Mobberley Trust fund'.”
