MORE than 50 ladies turned out to enjoy the second literary lunch held at The Belle Epoque in Knutsford on Thursday, October 9.

Organised by Sue France, the ladies enjoyed a morning workshop with motivational speaker Sue Tonks before settling down to a delicious lunch in the opulent surroundings of The Belle Epoque’s garden room.

A handful of authors dropped in to the King Street venue to share their books, but perhaps the most notable being Christie Barlow from Northwich who on Thursday celebrated number 1 spot in the ‘parenting humour’ charts on Amazon.

Her book ' A Year in the Life of a Playground Mother' is a relatable and hilarious account of a mothers experience of the ‘front line’ that is the school gates.

Cathy Gordon presented her late father’s rather light-hearted approach to living with MS in her book 'In a MeSs', and Dr Michelle Harvie presented '2Day Diet', a book that has achieved worldwide recognition.

The literary lunch once again brought together some great opportunities for those aspiring to find a publisher. At the 2013 lunch, Susie Mathis met Sian-Elin Flint-Freel who went on to publish her late neighbours children’s book 'Pop Goes To The Rescue'.

For Sue France, the decision to return to The Belle Epoque for her 2014 lunch was an easy one.

“I chose The Belle Epoque to hold my first literary lunch in 2013 predominantly because the room was the perfect size, and I knew the Art Nouveau-inspired décor would create the perfect ambience for my event," she said.

"I also knew the food would be fabulous! The ladies loved The Belle Epoque and so I had no hesitation in booking here again.

"Once again, the event has been a true success and I look forward to 2015."
