DO you know your tortes from your tarts, or your baklava from your baked Alaska?

If so The Great Knutsford Bake Off could be just the thing for you.

Knutsford Tennis Club is calling all budding Mary Berrys to take part in a fundraising event at the club next month.

The Bake Off competition features four categories, and the entries will be judged by a celebrity chef.

There will be prizes for each category and the overall star baker.

The club is also inviting people to come along to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea and taste the delicious bakes between 2pm and 4pm.

The categories are chocolate cake, Victoria sponge (any filling), six cup cakes and signature bakes.

The Bake Off takes place at the club in Mereheath Lane on Sunday, November 9, and it costs £5 per entry.

“Anyone who enjoys baking is welcome to enter as many categories as they want, and we would love lots of people to come down to enjoy the bakes as part of a unique afternoon tea,” said ladies captain Louise Nanda.

“Guests can enjoy either just tea and cake, or a full afternoon tea, including sandwiches and cake or the full hit of fizz, sandwiches and cake.

“We would prefer to know the numbers, and if people could contact me to enter or reserve their afternoon tea that would be great.

“People are also very welcome to dust down their racket and have a knock for fun.”

Money raised by the event will go towards the refurbishment of tennis courts at the club.

Anyone who would like to enter is asked to call Louise on 07976 425312 or contact lounanda@virginmedia.com

People are also asked to contact Louise if they want to reserve an afternoon tea.

Entries for the Bake Off competition need to be at the club by midday on the day.

The three middle courts at the club are suffering from subsidence, the work to refurbish them is estimated to cost £120,000, and the Bake Off is one of a series of events being organised to raise money for the project.
