TO celebrate Brownies being 100 years old, there was a safari slumber at Chester Zoo with1,500 Brownies and leaders sleeping in a huge marquee trying to break the world record for the biggest sleepover ever.

There was a Tails and Trails event the morning after and activities all round the zoo for the Brownies to take part in such as face-painting, craft activities, sporting activities.

Kathryn Woolf, a leader of 2nd Toft Brownies, said: "The event was great fun. The Brownies had exclusive access to the zoo on the Friday evening. They had made lanterns in the shape of lions and we walked round the zoo in the dark listening to the animal noises. The lion was very curious to see what all the lantern lights were all about! Then it was back to the tent for supper and stories before lights out."
