THE dust may have only settled on 2014’s event, but organisers of Knutsford Promenades have already put the wheels in motion for next year’s spectacular.

The date for Knutsford Promenades 2015 has been set for Saturday July 4 2015 and the theme has been decided – ‘Texts from the Front’.

Building on the success of the first event in 2013 and this year’s Promenade around the town’s historic buildings, the 2015 event will be bigger and broader, with large scale props, staged events and an impressive finale.

Sarah Flannery, who created the Promenades concept, said: “We’ve spent the previous two years building up the momentum for 2015 in order to establish the Promenades as a key arts and cultural event to benefit the town on many levels.

“Our performers will be local people of all ages with contributions from local organisations, as well as contributions from professionals.”

Robert Meadows will be responsible for the project management of the seven 20 minute elements that will form the overall performance.

“’Texts from the Front’ will be using the memories of Knutsford people who have direct experience of conflict – and reconciliation – through involvement in the Armed Forces or through serving as a peace keeper abroad,” said Robert.

“These memories combined with local myths and historical research will be performed through a variety of forms, including music, song, dance, and large scale puppetry to bring these local stories to life.”

Resident Julie Tempest, who is looking after the communications and PR for the event, said that working on the Promenades has been a delight.

She added: “This is one of the best creative and inclusive events I’ve seen staged in the town and I’m delighted to once again be part of the fabulous team behind the concept.”
