KNUTSFORD’S popular artisan market turns two this weekend.

On September 7, the Maker’s Market, formally The Artisan Market, will be celebrating its second anniversary in the town.

The monthly market, which is now one of the largest and most prestigious events of its type in the UK, as recognised by the National Market Traders Federation, draws crowds from across Cheshire.

Organiser Victoria Jackson said: “I feel very privileged to organise this event on behalf of Knutsford. I'm delighted that the event has grown and evolved over the last two years, and I'm very thankful to work with people such as David Mooney, our talented stallholders and our musical performers like Bernard and the team from Loose Change, who make the event the success that it is.

“I feel very thankful to the Knutsford retailers, and especially Peter from POP. The support from the retailers is exceptional. It’s a difficult time for retail and we really appreciate that they understand what we are trying to achieve and are very thankful for their support.

“Working with Town Clerk Adam and Clr Tony Dean, we have some great plans for the event moving forward, and I really look forward to it developing and ensuring it’s the best it can be for Knutsford.

“And of course a huge thank you to the Knutsford residents who come out and support what we do.”

More than 130 producers will be setting up shop on Princess Street this weekend. The market, which runs from 11am-4pm, will feature musical performances by Loose Change, cancer research buskers and The Get Back Band, who collect for Teenage Cancer Trust.

Kelzo, Manchester’s leading graffiti artist, will also be painting live on canvas to illustrate his work.
