A CLINIC for those wanting advice when applying for jobs has been set up in Knutsford.

Anne Baker, who has spent her entire career in HR and the past eight years running her own business, has decided to set up the group to offer tips and advice to the town's out of work residents.

The clinics – in association with the Job Centre in Macclesfield – will begin on Monday, September 8 at the Welcome Cafe from 10am until 12pm with the sessions alternating between the centre in Longridge and St John's Church in the centre of Knutsford.

Some of the sessions will take place between 2pm and 4pm but details will always be displayed at the venues.

"I want to make it accessible to the whole of Knutsford and it is about boosting their self esteem and confidence," she said.

"This is more about giving something back and I have been volunteering with the homeless and trying to get them into work.

"I was talking to a friend of mine about that and it spurred him on to set up a service in Wilmslow and that has been running for a couple of years.

"The access to the job market has changed dramatically. I was with a guy at the Welcome who had left the army in Germany and he had never had a CV.

"We want to work with 'job ready' people as time is important for us."

Anne said she would be keen to hear from anyone who wanted to help her and also employers in the area as she would be able to refer potential candidates to them.
