POLICE had to shut the A50 near High Legh following a crash on Saturday morning.
The incident happened around 10am near High Legh Garden Centre and the road was closed to allow an air ambulance to land.
It has since been reopened.
The accident involved a McLaren sports car which was badly damaged after hitting a tree and setting on fire.
However there are no life threatening injuries reported.
The driver and passenger were both taken to hospital, one by air ambulance.
