LIVE music, comedy and beer all topped the bill at the inaugural Leghfest on the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The two-day event saw hundreds descend on the Legh Arms to enjoy entertainment from live acts, comedians and DJs, sample a wide variety of different beers, and tuck into a barbecue and hog roast fest feast.

Apart from the Brook Street pub’s reopening weekend in May, the festival was the first big event organised by new landlords, Zoe Naylor and Matthew Blythe.

“The event was a massive success; the thing that always stands out for us since taking over the Legh Arms is the support we have from the local community and this was once again proven by the fantastic turn out we had,” said Zoe.

“We chose the beer festival aspect as we have access through Marstons to a good range of guest ales on bank holiday weekends. The reason we chose to add music to the weekend was to give a platform to local bands and musicians to showcase their talents in front of a larger audience.

“The combination of the beer, music and comedy worked really well.”

More than £1000 was raised at the event, which will be donated to a cause close to Zoe and Matthew’s heart, Manchester cancer treatment centre, The Christie.

Zoe added: “We have a very good friend who has received a great deal of treatment at The Christie and we’re very proud that we can do just a small bit to give back to them for all they’ve done for him.”

The couple wanted to thank everyone who attended the event, and also thank those who contributed to its success, including Event Buddha, Tatton Brewery, LOL Cheshire, Dave Boardman of Darktown Jubilee, Shirt Monkey and the acts.
