THE team at Cheshire Pet in Holmes Chapel are becoming increasingly upset at the continuing influx of stray and abandoned pets to their practise.
Hot on the tail of heartfelt plea in the Guardian for owners to have their pets micro chipped, the Cheshire Pet has reported yet another story of abandonment.
An ‘unlucky’ black cat had a lucky escape when it was found locked in a cat carrier at Shakerley Mere, near Goostrey.
Jane Hammersley, head nurse at Cheshire Pet, said: “Fortunately a passer-by was kind enough to investigate the contents of the carrier and brought it to us, otherwise this poor animal could have died, unable to escape to get food and water.”
Once again, Cheshire Pet is urging owners to ensure all pets are micro chipped so that, if they should come by the practice, the team can identify their owner and reunite the two.
Jane added: “We have no idea what the story is behind why this cat, now called Bridget, was left in the car park. We hope there was a genuine reason, but had she been chipped we would have been able to find some answers.
“Now we are left hoping an owner might get in touch but if not, we will be looking to find her a new owner and a forever home.”
If you are interested in rehoming Bridget, or for more information about micro chipping, contact Cheshire Pet on 01477 544 554.
