A KNUTSFORD dairy is like the cat that got the cream after scooping ten awards at this year’s International Cheese Awards.

With 4,443 cheese and dairy entries from cheesemakers across the world, competition at this year’s awards was stiff, but Delamere Dairy managed to walk away with almost a dozen top medals.

The medal haul included gold awards, which were collected for the company’s skimmed goats milk, spreadable goats cheese and feta-style goats cheese.

Ed Salt, MD of Delamere Dairy, said: “We are delighted with our award wins at the International Cheese Awards this year, our best yet.

“With over 4,400 entries from around the world, it is a fantastic honour to have our goats products recognised in so many categories.”

The Bexton Lane company can add the awards to the string of wins it has had this year. In June, Delamere’s goats cheese log with honey won gold at the Cheshire Show. The speciality dairy also scooped silver awards at the Cheshire Show, British Cheese Awards and Great Yorkshire Show, for its mild goats cheese, medium goats cheese and goats cheese log with herbs, respectively.

Delamere has also gone stateside; it has recently launched its award winning goats butter and medium goats cheese in America.

Ed added: “The products will be sold through speciality stores in a market where the popularity of goats’ products is rising. As well as an established base of artisan suppliers, goats products are becoming more mainstream, which is where Delamere sees its butter and cheddar-style goats cheese fitting.

“It’s an exciting time.”
