KNUTSFORD Heritage Centre will be freezing a moment in time to celebrate its 25th anniversary – and need Knutsfordians’ help in making history.

On September 23, a time capsule will be buried within the grounds of the centre as part of its quarter of a century anniversary celebrations.

The contents of the time capsule will represent life in Knutsford during 2014, and the items include the Knutsford Heritage Centre memorabilia, the Town Guide, the 2014 May Day programme, and a copy of the Guardian.

Keen to include the community in the celebrations, the centre is running a time capsule competition.

Knutsford residents are being invited to contribute to the capsule by suggesting what else should be included. The centre is looking for a quirky item that either represents living in Knutsford or is representative of today’s culture in 2014.

The winner will invited as a VIP guest to the celebrations on September 23, which will include music, a giant cake and refreshments from Don Giovanni’s, and help bury the capsule. There will also be a prize of a family meal for the winning entry.

Chris Henretty, chairman of Knutsford Heritage Centre, said: “It’s remarkable to think that the centre has been in existence for 25 years and it is certainly going from strength to strength.

“2014 has been a great year with the Crowning Glory exhibition marking Knutsford’s 150th May Day and in October, we start our impressive programme to commemorate World War I.

“The centre, totally staffed by volunteers, is a great attribute to the town and I would recommend all residents to come and visit.”

Suggestions for the time capsule can be either submitted to the Guardian or direct to the centre. The closing date is Tuesday September 16.
