THE winners of Knutsford’s most green-fingered competitions have finally been revealed.
Back in June, the Guardian appealed for readers to enter Knutsford in Bloom’s annual Front Garden Competition and Business Display Competition.
The judges, Honorary President of Knutsford in Bloom (KIB) Sam Youd, garden designer and horticultural consultant Sharon Stephenson, and Deputy Mayor Clr Tony Dean, visited preened and pruned gardens and displays across the town.
After the judges case their vote, Clr Dean and KIB Chairwoman Yvonne Bancroft were honoured with presenting the winners with their awards.
Yvonne said: “It was great to be invited with the judges to see some of our residents’ gardens. There is always a wide variety of style and size, but always a treat to visit. It’s lovely to meet the winners that have created the gardens and at the same time added to their neighbourhood.
“Our business community have gone above and beyond again this year. I would like to thank each and every one who took the trouble to make an extra special effort, whether it was a hanging basket, window boxes or the superb special floral displays over the Tatton Show week inspired by Peter Murray from POP. They really have made a mark for Knutsford.”
On behalf of KIB, Yvonne also thanked Booths, Fisher German LLP, for sponsoring town planters, and The Inner Wheel Club and Waitrose, for their generous donations this year.
She added: “So many people have commented upon how lovely Knutsford has looked this year. Knutsford really is a lovely place to live and shop in. Long may our floral efforts continue.”
