ORGANISATIONS supporting the Knutsford Hosts project met to discuss progress and meet the latest batch of qualified volunteers on August 8.

Knutsford Hosts is a town-wide volunteering initiative which gives people the opportunity to train as community volunteers to represent the town at a wide range of events.

Knutsford Town Council is the lead partner in the project along with organisations Community Spirit, Peaks and Plains, Great Places, Knutsford Heritage Centre and The Welcome.

Representatives met with the latest volunteers to become fully-fledged Hosts at the Town Council Offices earlier this month.

Knutsford Hosts’ Project Co-ordinator said: “It was great to catch up with our partners to get their thoughts on the Hosts project so far, and have a discussion about what’s next for the scheme.

“We now have a lively group of Hosts from a diverse range of backgrounds who are enjoying their volunteering.”

At the meeting, the new Hosts were presented with their official badges from Knutsford Town Mayor Clr Neil Forbes.

Kane Gunter, chairman of Community Spirit, praised the scheme’s growing number of dedicated volunteers.

“People can get something out of volunteering by being part of the big thing,” he said.

“The social aspect is important for many volunteers coupled with the knowledge that you are doing your bit for the betterment of the town as a whole.

“It’s great fun and I would encourage anyone, young or old, who wants to help out and do that little bit extra to sign up.”
