A KNUTSFORD shop is undertaking a month-long charity appeal which will help people from all walks of life enjoy the great outdoors.

Throughout September, Rohan, on Princess Street, is asking customers to bring any unwanted but usable outdoor trousers, jackets and fleeces to the shop as part of its ‘Gift Your Gear’ initiative.

The items will then be donated to community organisations, youth groups and charities for outdoor projects in the area.

The store ran the appeal earlier this year in March, with customers handing in more than 9,000 items to Rohan stores nationwide.

Store manager Craig Warburton said: “Customers were incredibly generous last time round enabling us to donate outdoor gear to numerous worthy groups and causes. We hope that they’re just as generous this time round.

“In particular, we’re appealing for children’s gear, as a lot of the organisations that apply for the used gear are to do with children, for example, local scout groups. However we will ensure a good home is found for any item whether it be for adult or child.

“We are again inviting people to nominate themselves or their organisation for the donated outdoor gear. It could be a school class; someone who is planning a fundraising trek; perhaps a community group in their local area. We will welcome all suggestions from anyone who thinks they can benefit from the outdoor gear.”

The Rohan shop, as an incentive, is offering a 15 percent discount off all purchases made on the day of donation.

Anyone interested in benefitting from the donated items should email sarah.howcroft@gmail.com explaining why they want the gear. The Rohan team will assess all the applications and support as many they can.
