POLICE have confirmed that it is 'business as usual' at Manchester Airport after a RAF jet escorted a passenger plane into land over reports of a device on board.

A Qatar Airways flight from Doha was escorted into land by the jet after the pilot reported there was a 'possible device on board'.

The plane landed at around 1.15pm and taxied to an area of the airport where it was surrounded by 'specialist officers'.

But a spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police tweeted: "It's now business as usual at Manchester Airport due to a swift partnership response.

"Police are still dealing with the matter as an isolated response. The plane has been moved to allow specialist officers who are dealing with the incident to board."

A statement for Qatar Airways confirmed flight QR23 landed safely at Manchester Airport ahead of its scheduled arrival time of 1.15pm.

It said: "The crew onboard had received a threat about a possible device on board and Qatar Airways immediately took all the necessary precautions to alert British authorities.

"The crew is now fully assisting police at the airport with their inquiries."

Look around at the majority of passengers using this airport and at many of the destinations and then ask....how long before the real thing happens.
