A GROUP of young students have been prompted to reopen their campaign against a 100-home development in Holmes Chapel after the rejected plans were resubmitted.

The Save Saltersford Corner campaign, led by young residents aged 15-18, was set up earlier this year in opposition to Russell Homes’ proposal to build 100 properties on Saltersford Corner.

The proposals were rejected by Strategic Planning Board on May 28 – but the developer resubmitted the application to Cheshire East Council on June 24.

In reaction to the resubmission, The Save Saltersford Corner group have restarted their campaign and are encouraging residents to submit their views on the proposed development before the deadline of August 7.

Bill Armstrong, who is spearheading the campaign, said: “Since discovering that the planning application had been resubmitted we have been re opening the campaign to be able to get the word out about the new application.

“This has been done through our Facebook, twitter and email contacts. In the next few days we intend to go out into the community to ask people to submit their comments on the council website.”

Fresh comments have been submitted to the application in opposition to proposal. Some of the reasons given by objectors include contradiction of the National Planning Policy Framework, strain on local infrastructure and the fact that the site’s is classified as ‘not currently developable’.

Bill added: “I would urge any readers to submit comments in opposition to the proposed development. A template letter and link to the website can be found on our website at saltersfordcorner.webs.com.”
