A SUCCESSFUL Manchester band has chosen a Knutsford clothing brand as their ‘main style’ choice this week.

The Ruby’s, with indie hits in the US and UK, liked Meccanica’s classic look as well as their passion for British engineering with Italian design.

Meccanica makes a range of British made clothing, while also supplying handmade cycles, cycling parts, accessories, original artwork, photography and books, including restoration services.

“Our range of retro-inspired, British-made apparel is unique,” said Colin Ball, the founder of Meccanica.

“Each piece is individually hand-made to the highest standards, using the finest quality materials – resulting in affordable bespoke, original garments that are a pleasure to wear and be seen in and we are extremely pleased that the band chose us as their ‘look’.”

Barry Kirkwood, rhythm guitarist of The Rubys, said: “Too much is never enough.

“The band continues to grow in popularity at home and abroad. In today’s world, Rock n’Roll bands need to evolve their look as well as their music. We’ve made great progress on the latter; we turned to Meccanica for the former.”

Colin and Barry agreed that the best way to get the right mix was a special fitting and meeting the band, which obviously included a social get together at the Old Cycle works on Windsor Way, just off Manchester Road.

The Meccanica range includes long and short sleeved Italian merino cycle tops, a growing range of technical clothing, T’s, polo’s, Oxford shirts and even jeans, all with a two wheeled influence.

The Rubys headline Manchesters’ iconic music venue, The Deaf Institute, on Saturday, October 18 ahead of announcing new releases in 2015. The Rubys plan to share Meccanicas’ style at the gig.
