THE Weaver Valley WI choir will bring a lively programme of music to Pickmere Sunday Afternoon Teas by the Lake on July 27.

The choir, led by its musical director, Pickmere resident Joyce Kirkpatrick, will perform a wide variety of pieces, commencing with Martin Shaw’s jubilant ‘With a Voice of Singing’ – which also gives its name to the choir’s latest CD.

The hour-long programme covers a wide variety of styles and themes, from the jazzy ‘That Dixieland Sound’ to the beautiful ‘Brother James’s Air’, from the musical standard ‘Regards to Broadway’ to ‘The Rose’.

Solos and duets will be performed by Helena Wrench, Sandra Perrin, Roy and Joyce Kirkpatrick and Julie Ackerley, and a little light humour will be added by Anne Palmer and Kate Cawley.

The choir is based at Acton Bridge and has performed in many venues including the Northwich Memorial Hall, Chester Cathedral, Gorton Monastery and Liverpool’s Echo Arena, as well as singing in many smaller venues to support local organisations.

The performance will begin at 2.15pm. There is limited seating, so you might like to bring along something to sit on.

Teas are served every Sunday at Pickmere Lake until the end of August, from 2pm to 4.30pm.
