A KNUTSFORD church is holding a summer fete on Saturday, July 12, as part of its 150th celebration.

Knutsford Methodist Church’s foundation stone was laid on May 25, 1864 – though John Wesley is thought to have preached in the town in March 1738.

So for the next 12 months the church will be a hive of activity as they set about raising £150,000 to mark this anniversary.

They are seeking £30,000 to support further community development work and £120,000 to fund the repair of the listed stone rose window that fronts on to Princess Street and which is now in need of some urgent TLC .

"The church opened its doors on 11th May 1865,” said Minister Rob Cotton.

“So during the next twelve months we have set up 'Challenge 150' to raise the £150,000 by next May's anniversary.

“The church and community hall and rooms at KMC are already in use 7 days a week by the people of Knutsford. So part of this money is being raised to further our work in Knutsford and to bring the wonderful message of hope to even more people".

The first event being held is a cream tea fete on Saturday in the gardens of Dunholme Farm, Pickmere.

Tickets are available at the Church Office 01565 65225.
