A NEW podiatrist is in town and has set up home in a practice familiar to many Knutsfordians.

Kay Johnson has started a new clinic in a room based at Gaskell Avenue Dental Practice.

The town recently lost long-standing King Street-based podiatrists Tony and Andi Ellis – with their former home to be replaced soon by an estate agents – and Kay, who was one of Tony’s students – but Kay has now moved into the town and set up a clinic.

“It’s a lovely practice and I’ve great support from the reception and they are a great bunch,” Kay said.

“ We are jokingly calling ourselves the foot and mouth clinic!

“I am grateful that Tony and Andi have also recommended me to their patients.

“Those that I have seen have expressed their appreciation for the care that they have received from both Mr and Mrs Ellis over the years, they have been an amazing partnership.

“I hope that the patients that choose to come and see me at Gaskell Avenue will continue to be very happy with their care.”

Kay went to Stockport Grammar School and graduated as a podiatrist/chiropodist from University College Salford in 1990. She has worked in both NHS and private sector roles in Manchester, York and Tameside.

In the NHS I specialised in treating people with diabetes and the high risk foot. And as a runner she is interested in biomechanics and the use of prescription orthotics to treat foot and lower limb problems.

She now works as a general podiatrist and treats patients suffering from all manner of foot problems including corns, calluses, ingrowing and fungal nails, foot pain and lower limb biomechanical problems.

Kay added: “There is also parking at the practice so it is convenient for patients, especially those who have access problems.

“These details all help me to give patients a good experience and the patients that have been to see me so far have given really positive feedback.”

Podiatry appointments are available Tuesday to Thursday, with a late night clinic until 8pm on Tuesday.
