ORGANISERS of the Amazed by Science festival have announced record attendance figures for the first pan Cheshire science festival.

The venues involved in the free science festival - including Jodrell Bank - welcomed more than 5,000 visitors over the opening Bank Holiday weekend.

Jodrell Bank held a four day interactive science extravaganza, with headline sponsors Siemens and it was hailed a big success.

Adrian Bull of The National Nuclear Laboratory said: "There has never been a more important time to inspire young people with the wonders of science, and to remind older students of the vast range of career opportunities which exist here in Cheshire for those who have been inspired.”

Katrina Michel, chief executive, Marketing Cheshire said: “We have been absolutely delighted with the attendance figures during the festival, families have embraced this fantastic opportunity to have fun with science and to learn more about the incredible opportunities this field of work can offer.

"We wouldn’t have done it without our partners and sponsors and we hope to work with existing and new potential sponsors to build on this success for the 2015 event.”
