COMMUNITY volunteers will be honoured with official badges at a special welcome event at the Town Council Offices today, Friday.

Knutsford Town Mayor Clr Neil Forbes will be presenting badges to the first group of Knutsford Hosts to complete their volunteer training at the event.

Knutsford Hosts is a new town-wide pilot scheme that gives people the opportunity to train as community volunteers to represent the town and, at no cost to themselves, they will gain the nationally recognised Award in Community Volunteering.

Knutsford Town Council is one of the partners in the scheme.

Clr Forbes said: “A good voluntary sector helps stitch together the threads of society and makes a place a ‘nice place to live’ with a better quality of life for all, and the Knutsford Hosts as a part of the voluntary sector in Knutsford do just that."

For anyone interested in becoming a Knutsford Host, there will be a drop-in event at Knutsford Heritage Centre from 3.30pm to 6pm on Friday June 6.

Project co-ordinators Sarah Flannery and Norma Young will be on hand to answer any questions. Visit knutsfordhosts.co.uk for more information.
