A LOWER Peover man braved the searing cold and dizzying heights of Mount Everest to raise money for two causes close to his heart.

Noel Devery, of Green Lane, travelled with a group of friends to Nepal last month on a quest to scale the world’s highest mountain.

The 55-year-old decided to take the opportunity to raise money for Epilepsy Action, a cause dear to his heart, as his sister suffers from the condition.

Not only that, but Noel pledged to match the amount raised for Epilepsy Action himself and donate it to the Alzheimer’s Society.  His brother-in-law was recently diagnosed with the disease at age 58.

Noel smashed his target and will be donating over £1000 to each charity.
