LANDLORDS Zoe Naylor and Matt Blythe enjoyed a memorable opening weekend at their new pub as people flocked to the revamped Legh Arms in Knutsford.

Knutsford mayor Clr Barbara Coan cut a ribbon to reopen the Brook Street pub, which has undergone a major refurbishment since being closed in December.

The pub was reopened by the mayor at midday on Friday, May 2, and was packed with customers delighted to see the Marston’s pub open again.

“You couldn’t move from about 4pm on until we closed,” said Zoe.

“Everyone said how they wanted their local pub back, and were so pleased to see it open once again. The atmosphere was amazing.”

Customers were treated to complimentary sample dishes during the afternoon, and local bands Run No Run and Darktown Jubilee performed on the opening night.

There was a barbecue and hog roast on May Day Saturday, followed in the evening by an Ibiza-style party featuring DJs.

Another barbecue was held on the Sunday, and the full menu served on Bank Holiday Monday attracted numerous compliments.

“We served almost 100 meals on the Monday, and the feedback from the customers was tremendous,” said Zoe.

“We knew it was going to be busy over the weekend, but were overwhelmed by how many people we had and the supportive comments from everyone.

“We would like to thank the mayor for reopening the pub, all the customers for their support, and the staff, who were brilliant.

“We’re looking forward to a long and successful time here.”
