FOUR fundraising friends and their daughters are going to paint the town, and countryside, red this summer for Red Cross Week.

Karen Jones, Amanda Rees, Julie Howarth and Cathy Lynes have all registered to take on the Red Shoe Walk in the Peak District on June 7, part of this year’s Red Cross Week celebrations.

To make it a family affair, the Knutsford women will be joined by their daughters, who are all year 9 pupils at Knutsford Academy.

Karen, a community legacy manager with the British Red Cross, said: “It was our chance to take on a challenge with our daughters and enjoy some magnificent scenery whilst raising money for an amazing charity – the British Red Cross.”

The British Red Cross Red Shoe Walks are taking place throughout the UK this summer, and the Peak District addition is a family-friendly 7-mile walk in the Derbyshire countryside. All walkers need to dress in red of any shade, and will each be given a pair of free red shoe covers to add to their outfit.

It costs £10 per person to participate in the walk and under 12’s go free. To sign up, or for more information, visit redcross.org.uk/RedShoeWalks
