ART work by school children is putting a spring in the step of train passengers.

At the end of last year pupils from Goostrey Community Primary School created a display of penguins, ice and snow in the waiting room on the Crewe platform at Goostrey Railway Station.

Now their teacher Becky Cowell is welcoming spring with more art work by her pupils.

A huge yellow flower greets passengers as they enter the waiting room, and beside it are smaller flowers, with words from the school’s eco-code on the petals.

Another section of the display has pictures and French writing in red, yellow, green and blue, with a rainbow above.

The art work has attracted numerous compliments from passengers.

Friends of Goostrey Station thanked everyone involved in the project.

“We are keen to involve young people in the work to ensure the railway station reflects positively on the village that it serves,” said Friends chairman Cyril Caulkin.
