A PLANNING committee is to hear a proposal that would see a site in Goostrey house six new homes.

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s planning committee will meet on Tuesday, April 29 to decide if a plot of land on the corner of New Platt Lane and Harrison Drive can be home to six new detached properties.

Although the site is closer to Cheshire East Council-controlled Goostrey, its address is Allostock, meaning councillors in Chester will make the final decision.

The application was ‘called in’ to the planning committee by CWaC Clr Mark Stocks due to concerns that the proposals will result in an overdevelopment of the site and the impact upon the area.

The plot of land was originally occupied by one detached two-storey dwelling which has since been demolished. Planning permission was granted in 2012 for the erection of four dwellings at the site and work has now commenced on two of these permitted dwellings.

But the owner is now seeking permission to erect six detached homes on the site.

Allostock Parish Council has objected to this development on a plot previously given planning permission for four houses. The council had numerous areas of concern, including, the density of housing is excessive for this plot in this area and the proposal gives the appearance of a mini-estate and is not in keeping with the area.

Council officers have recommended the application be approved – subject to 23 conditions – but the final decision will be made in Chester on April 29.

The site is yards from a site where 38 homes will be built on land formerly used as a chicken farm.
