A KNUTSFORD-based business has been recognised for their success over the past year by receiving a national industry award.

Speedy Freight, a same-day courier and express freight service provider based in the Pavillions, off Cranford Drive, scooped the ‘Network of the Year’ category at the Transport Awards 2014, organised by Transport Exchange Group, which celebrates major achievements and best practice within the freight industry.

Speedy Freight’s William Timpany and Philip Dunn were presented with the award by John Merrill from Navman Wireless at the annual ceremony that took place at the prestigious Chesford Grange Hotel in Kenilworth, Warwickshire, in front of more than 300 industry professionals and business leaders.

The company was one of five winners that were nominated and voted for by almost 3,000 members of Courier Exchange and Haulage Exchange in recognition of their outstanding achievement in terms of customer service, operational performance and delivery.

William Timpany, national franchise manager at Speedy Freight, said: “We are honoured to have been recognised with this award.

"We have built our network very much in partnership with Courier Exchange and its members in a relatively short space of time, so the professionalism, competitiveness, reliability and hard work of these valued organisations have significantly contributed to our rapid expansion and ongoing success.”

Lyall Cresswell, managing director of Transport Exchange Group, said: “I would like to congratulate Speedy Frieght for their success at this year’s Transport Awards. With more than 500,000 loads traded via our freight platform over the past year, they are part of a significant community of like-minded organisations that are working together to achieve ongoing success within the courier and haulage sectors.”

The Transport Awards, now in its twelfth year, is organised by Transport Exchange Group, the operator of the largest and fastest-growing freight exchanges within the UK.

The annual event celebrates the greatest achievements amongst almost 3,000 courier and haulage member businesses over the previous year.
