A DEVOTED daughter, who lost her beloved dad to cancer, is taking part in a new fundraising obstacle course at Tatton Park in his name.

Susan Hart, from Knutsford, lost her dad Ian Bott to cancer of the oesophagus in 2012 and will be taking part in the North West’s first ever Race for Life Pretty Muddy in his memory.

The sold-out Pretty Muddy event, which will be held at Tatton Park in June, is a new women-only, non-competitive 5k course – with mud.

Susan, who runs a small livery yard in Knutsford, said: “Working on a farm means I am well used to being surrounded by mud so it won’t bother me at all – it’ll be a great challenge and I think I will really enjoy it.”

The mum-of-two is no stranger to Race for Life events and first took part, alongside her mum, daughters and sister, just after her dad was diagnosed with the disease.

“Taking part in Race for Life is my way of fighting back against cancer for taking my dad. I miss him every day,” added Susan.

Although Pretty Muddy is sold-out, places are still available for Cancer Research UK’s 5k or 10k Race for Life events at Tatton Park over the weekend of June 28 and 29.
