EAST Cheshire NHS Trust has been awarded more than £1.4million to provide cutting-edge electronic equipment for front-line staff.
The funding will be used to provide hand-held tablet devices and state-of-the-art software to nurses working the community and to clinical staff at Macclesfield District General Hospital.
The money will be provided through NHS England’s Nursing Technology Fund, which was announced by Prime Minister David Cameron in October 2012.
With £1.46million split between two projects, East Cheshire NHS Trust has been awarded more money through the fund than any single organisation so far.
East Cheshire NHS Trust director of nursing Kath Senior said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive this funding.
“It is a very significant development and will help us to transform the way our front-line staff work, both in the community and in acute hospital settings.
“The introduction of mobile devices will allow our community staff to work more efficiently, freeing them up to spend more time delivering quality care, while also further improving the delivery of our acute care by allowing mobile, real-time monitoring of inpatients.”
