TUG of war teams battled it out at Chelford Village Hall last weekend.

On Sunday April 6, Bosley Tug of War Club held their annual tug of war competition and teams from across the country flocked to the village hall to compete.

Bosley, as host club, finished as runners up in the mens 640 kilos competition, reached the semi-finals of the 680kilos competition, and finished third in the catachweight competition.

“This was our first outdoor competition of the new season and we acquitted ourselves very well,” said team member Alan Knott.

“Getting into a final on the day has given us great confidence now going forward for the rest of the season.”

The mens competitions saw Norton Tug of War Club from Stoke-on-Trent win the 600 kilos, 640 kilos and 680 kilos competitions, with Lincoln Tug of War Club winning the 720 kilos and catchweight competitions. The ladies and youth competitions were won by South West Yorkshire YFC and Gloucester ACF respectively.

Alan added: “We would like to place on record our thanks to Chelford Parish Council and the Chelford Village Hall Committee for supporting us and providing us with the venue.

“And the Bollington Brewery and Olympus Trophies in Macclesfield for providing the prizes for the winning teams on the day and we would everyone who came along for supporting us on the day.”
