A BREWERY has submitted plans to demolish and rebuild a semi-derelict former fire station on Stocks Lane in Over Peover.

Tadcaster-based Samuel Smiths Brewery has put in a planning application to Cheshire East Council to rebuilt the unit, which was damaged when storms hit the area on August 2, 2011.

The building – used as a village fire station during the Second World War – has been left damaged ever since, with residents battling with the brewery in an attempt to get the situation resolved.

Residents living on nearby Cheshire Row have said the building is an eyesore.

The brewery would not comment to the Guardian when approached in November 2013 but has now revealed it will demolish and rebuild the structure.

The deadline for comments on the application, which has a reference number of 14/1190M, is April 30.
