Over 50 local businesses have raised £5,000 to buy beer for Knutsford’s first Beer Festival which takes place at the Old Town Hall on April 4 and 5.

Many companies have donated specific business skills and resources. “Glass sponsor” Tatton Brewery has brought forward the release of its specially brewed “Crowning Glory” beer, originally scheduled for launch at the 150th Royal May Day anniversary.

John Robinson of Robinson's Brewery is supplying beer, providing cellar support, promotional help and advertising. Their famous horse-drawn dray wagon is being used to publicise the event and their vintage delivery van will be parked outside the Old Town Hall.

Weightman's Solicitors is the main sponsor, Committee Chairman, Clr Andrew Molloy, said “we are all very grateful to Weightman's for becoming the main sponsor of the Festival which is raising money for the Town Mayor's charities; Knutsford and District Lions Club and Cheshire Search and Rescue”.

All 900 tickets sold out weeks in advance and sponsorship has exceeded all expectations. Key organiser and fundraiser, Jonathan Farber has been amazed by the event's success “we've all been completely overwhelmed with the interest and support for the Festival” he said.
