HUNDREDS of runners are expected to get ‘on their marks, get set and go’ to raise funds for Comic Relief this weekend.
The Sport Relief Mile will be setting off from Knutsford Leisure Centre on Sunday, March 23 at 10am.
The event is open to all abilities, with those taking part given the choice of distance of one, three or six miles. “Come on Knutsford, what are you waiting for?” said Neil Ruff, assistant leisure centre manager.
“In 2102 the Knutsford Leisure Centre Sports Relief Mile had more than 120 participants, and this year we want even more of you to get involved to get that total higher.”
The centre is organising a host of activities to coincide with the event.
These include a free swim for all those who complete a mile in fancy dress, a ‘beat the goalie’ event with an FC United goalkeeper, a host of sporting and aerobic activities in the leisure centre itself and a funfair.
The drama studio will also be hosting a bake sale, and Town Mayor Clr Barbara Coan is also hoping to join in the fun with the judging of a special ‘Bake Off’ which will cost £5 to enter and will see one keen Knutsford baker walk away with a prize.
