Heritage Centre seeking volunteers for milestone year ahead
6:00pm Tuesday 18th March 2014 in News
IN preparation for the town’s milestone year, Knutsford Heritage Centre is looking for more volunteers to swell the ranks and share the load.
As well as the regular talks and walking tours, the King Street centre will play host to a number of events including the Crowning Glory Exhibition, WW1 commemoration and Silver Anniversary celebrations.
The centre is also in the process of seeking museum accreditation and needs to make sure it has enough hands on-deck to achieve that goal.
Heritage Centre Trustee Diane Lomax said: “The Heritage Centre is going from strength to strength and we need more volunteers. Certain criterion needs to be met for museum accreditation and we need extra resources to make that possible.”
The centre is in particular need of volunteers who have skills in book-keeping and administration, and also marketing or publicity experience.
Other roles include assisting with exhibition preparation, help with the retail shop, the gardening club, the guided walks programme or more general assistance.
“Some volunteers have gone onto University as it has given them the confidence to do so and on the other end, people who have retired build great friendships by coming to the centre,” added Diane.
“We have a great team of volunteers and without them the whole centre wouldn’t exist and flourish to the extent it has.
“Any new recruits will be made most welcome by the whole team and hopefully gain a lot from the experience.”
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer should contact Val Bryant at Knutsford Heritage Centre; call 01565 650506 or drop by the centre.
