DAISY Fogg has told the Guardian she is ‘excited and nervous’ to be selected as the 2014 Mobberley Rose Queen.

The 12-year-old youngster was selected at the ceremony at Mobberley Victory Hall earlier this month.

Daisy, who attends Lorreto Grammar School, has previously been selected as Britannia for the Rose Fete and has been dancing since pre-school.

“I always looked up to the Rose Queen when I was younger and wanted to be her so it’s funny it’s actually happening,” she said.

“I was shocked but really excited to be selected.”

Thinking about the day itself, Daisy said she is looking forward to giving her speech and wearing the dress.

“I think I’ll feel a mixture of happiness and nervousness, I want everything to go well and for everyone to have a good day,” she added.

“I’m really excited to wear the dress – the dresses are always lovely.”

Daisy will be joined by her ladies-in-waiting Lexie McIntosh and Sophie Foord.

Tony Cooke, chairman of the festival, said there was a good turnout for the ceremony this year.

“The festival continues to be highly popular, and there was a total of six entrants for this year’s Rose Queen,” he said.

“Mums, dads and guardians brought their children along to volunteer for the various characters of the Rose Queen Festival.

“Our congratulations go to Daisy Fogg, selected to be the Rose Queen for 2014, and to her Ladies- in-Waiting Lexie McIntosh and Sophie Foord.

“Our congratulations also go to all the children who are taking part.”

Mobberley Rose Queen Festival will take place on June 7 on Hall Bank Field, with the procession through the village starting at 2pm from Mobberley Victory Hall.
