Horse and pony enthusiasts are being given a unique opportunity to take part in World Breeds In-Hand and Ridden classes at this year’s Cheshire County Show for the first time ever!

The classes sponsored by Brightwells Equine Horse and Pony Auctioneers in Leominster will take place on the first day of the Show, Tuesday 17th June and will only be open to World Breeds - Palomino, Pure Raza Espanola, Appaloosa, Haflinger, Friesian, Fjord, Icelandic, Morgan and Lipizzaner.

All ponies and horses entering must be registered with their Associated Breed Society and have their Registered Passport numbers. The classes are open to World Breeds only, British Native Breeds are not eligible to take part as they are catered for in the Light Horse schedule.

The classes are also qualifiers for the ‘Best of the Best Supreme Championship 2014’ final to be held at the Hope Supreme Show at Rugby Riding Club Grounds in Warwickshire on 17th August.

The senior pony or horse aged 15 years and over within the classes will also qualify for the Senior Showing and Dressage Ltd Summer Championship Show on the 29th June at Onley Grounds Rugby, in Warwickshire. Mike Daley , Chief Steward at the Show said, “I’m delighted we are including World Breed classes in the Show this year.

People from all over the UK come to the Cheshire County Show as it is a fantastic event and we believe this will be the first time any county show has undertaken this prestigious classification for World Breeds.” Nigel Evans, Executive Director of the Cheshire County Show added, “We are working hard to ensure the 2014 show is even bigger and better than in previous years and are adding new initiatives and activities all the time.

We are very excited about the World Breeds classes as they really are brand new to the show this year.”
