A MAN has died following a road collision in Lower Withington.

Emergency services were called to Farm Lane at 7.12am this morning following reports of a two-car collision. 

On arrival at the scene, officers discovered a tree partially in the road and a Volkswagen Golf had collided with a Range Rover.

The driver of the Volkswagen, a 33-year-old man, died at the scene. The front seat passenger, a 46-year-old woman had to be released from the car by Cheshire Fire and Rescue and was taken to hospital. 

The man’s next of kin have been informed.  

The driver of the Ranger Rover, a 43-year-old woman was taken to hospital to be checked over.

Road closures were put in place at the corner of Farm Lane and the A535 but are due to be lifted soon.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 132 of 13 February.
