Fake detective phone calls warning
KNUTSFORD residents are being warned to report any phone calls they receive from a man claiming to be a detective from Leeds Police.
Cheshire Police received two reports on Monday, one in Knutsford and one in Wilmslow, where a male purporting to be a Leeds Police detective had called them.
He advised them a male, who he said was in possession of their credit card details, had been detained by police.
When the recipients became suspicious the male advised them to ring 901 and gave them a reference number of 329AC.
Should anyone receive such a call, they are advised to terminate it immediately and report the incident to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040.
